Top 5 Reasons to Fulltime RV!

Fulltime RVing is a great way to explore and visit some of the most incredible places in the USA, especially if you’re retired or working from home. In 2020, my husband and I moved into an RV full time with our 16-month-old and our 60-pound golden retriever. It’s been a wild ride, but we have loved every minute of RV life, so here are our top five reasons to fulltime RV!

To Live a Simpler Life

Before we made the switch to our 42ft fifth wheel, we were drowning beneath our 2000 sqft house. We were constantly repairing things or buying new furniture to try and make the space work for us, but it didn’t. We had way too much stuff for a couple just starting out, and after six years together, it became clear that home ownership just wasn’t for us.
Moving into the RV, we had to get rid of a lot of things. Turns out, cleaning out the junk in our closets and storage spaces that we never used eased a huge burden on our minds. Now, we have what we need and nothing more, and it feels amazing not having those other things looming over us.

To Break Out of the Mold

Around the time we decided we didn’t like homeownership, I transitioned to full-time remote work. This was a huge change that raised a lot of eyebrows from our friends and family, who thought that the dream of 9-5 jobs with PTO, a mortgage, and a white picket fence was the only option. We not only broke out of the mold when we sold our three-bedroom, two-bath house for an RV, but we did it with a little one, and we’ve never looked back!

It Gives You the Freedom to Travel

Jim and I have always dreamed of seeing the world. We’d talked since our first date about all the places we wanted to visit and all the destinations we would see together. Unfortunately, school, work, and kids all slowed down that dream. One of our favorite things about fulltime living in an RV is that we can go wherever we want, whenever we want! Recently, we visited a friend several states away on a whim, and when we realized none of us wanted to leave, we just stayed another week because RV life frees you to travel as long and as far as you want!

RV Life Brings You Closer Together

It’s no secret that RV living is tiny living. One of the reasons we chose the fulltime RVing life is that we wanted to get closer. Our family spends all day together, aside from when the little one and my man step out so I can jump on a Zoom Meeting or I need to focus for a few hours, and it’s wonderful! As soon as I’m done for the day, we head out together to hike, visit the park, or spend an evening at the zoo. RV life has encouraged us to spend more time together and more time outdoors, which are two massive wins in my book!

To Be Adventurous

If you are in a rut in life or feeling like you’re not going anywhere, fulltime RVing might be the change you need! Sometimes all it takes is the right change to help you thrive. For us, it was moving into an RV. We’ve never been happier, and the freedom to be true to our adventurous spirits has helped us to be happier, more successful, and closer as a family.
